Step-by-Step Installation (Windows):
1. Download RustDesk
Go to the official RustDesk website:
Under the Downloads section, select the correct version for your operating system:
- For Windows:
- Installer: rustdesk-x.x.x-windows.exe
- Portable: rustdesk-x.x.x-windows-portable.exe
2. Install or Run RustDesk
Option A: Using Installer
- Double-click the .exe installer.
- Allow any permission prompts.
- Complete the installation by following the setup wizard.
- RustDesk will launch automatically after installation.
Option B: Using Portable Version
- Extract the ZIP file (if needed).
- Double-click rustdesk.exe to run the software directly.
- No installation required.
First-Time Setup:
After launching RustDesk, the home screen will display:
- Your ID: A unique code to share with a technician
- Password: A temporary access password
Share these details only with authorized personnel for remote support.
Optional Settings:
- Unattended Access:
Set a permanent password in Settings > Security to allow future access without manual approval.
- Background Service:
Go to Settings > Service and click Install to run RustDesk silently in the background like AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
Connecting to Another Device:
- Enter the remote device’s ID in the “Remote Desk” field.
- Click Connect.
- Enter the password when prompted.
- The remote session will begin immediately.
Security Tips:
- RustDesk uses end-to-end encryption for all remote sessions.
- Avoid sharing your ID and password with unknown or untrusted users.
- Change your password after support sessions for added safety.
