Internet is Slow or Keeps Disconnecting

Problem Summary:

Possible Causes:
- Router overload or outdated firmware
- ISP issues
- Device overload or network congestion
- Background downloads or malware
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Restart Your Router/Modem
- Unplug the router.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and wait for it to stabilize.
- Check Cable Connections
- Ensure LAN cables are firmly connected.
- For wireless: Stand closer to the router and see if it improves.
- Test on Another Device
- Try loading a website on a different device.
- If only one device is slow, the issue is local (restart it or clear cache).
- Run a Speed Test
- Visit https://fast.com
- Compare with the plan speed provided by your ISP.
- Scan for Malware or Background Downloads
- On Windows: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Task Manager → Check Network tab
- Close unnecessary apps hogging bandwidth.
- Update Router Firmware
- Login to your router admin page (check back of device for IP, usually 192.168.1.1)
- Update firmware if available.
